What We Do

Writer Critique Groups

Coffee House Writers Group was formed to provide writers with a supportive and helpful environment to gain feedback from other writers. We achieve that through writer’s critique groups that meet weekly at each of our five locations. Everyone is welcome. Writers that wish to share their writing read aloud to the group. Then feedback starts to their right, and each person offers feedback to the writer.

Promotional Events

Our organization also provides opportunities for our published authors to promote and sell their work at annual writer’s festivals, such as the L.A. Times Festival of Books (LAFOB). CHWG also partners with non-profit organizations to provide our writers with other venues to promote their work, such as the Poetrypalooza event, and other local events.

Writer’s Workshops

Coffee House Writers Group also organizes monthly workshops where writers get exposed to other writers who share some of their education, training and experiences. These events are often presented in Claremont at the Buddhamouse Emporium and in Gatsby’s Books in Long Beach. Other venues are being researched and we look forward to seeing you at one of our workshops soon!

Social Events / Meet & Greets!

Each month we offer social networking opportunities to meet and converse with other writers. Often these events are held at a restaurant, but we also organize group events such as the recent trip to the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. Take a break from your writing and join us for these fun and social events. It’s a great way to meet other writers!
